|July 5, 2004 -- I called the weekend dispatcher today, and
as I suspected he was unable to figure out a solution to the problem of them
dispatching a broke down truck on a load. He said I should call my fleet
manager when everyone comes back to work after the holiday Tuesday morning
so they can decide what to do about it. I may have to wait until my regular
truck is fixed, or if they happen to have an unassigned truck that isn't
broke down and/or screwed up in some way, they might assign me to it. I
really won't know until tomorrow what will happen.
I can imagine my fleet
manager is going to have hell to pay tomorrow after having taken three days
off in a row. She's got an extremely high-stress job. It's really amazing
they are able to find employees who are willing to not only take dispatching
jobs, but are in many cases willing to stick with them for years on end.
